Well, to be brief – I was a lot Busy !!

I had Semester courses , projects and feedbacks up my ass … i couldnt do blogging in such a heavy workload.

Not can i post some useful stuff.

So here i am, will update all planned stuff in a meanwhile.

Dell WLAN Card 1390 Functionality Checking – Step 1

Hello Everyone, This is a Post to Check the Dell 1400 Fedora 10 Integrated Functionality.

This can be viewed as an integrated approach to searching the web for answers regarding this issue.
This is what i have composed after googling for answers.

First, Check out your settings issuing the following commands:

[root@localhost karthik]# iwlist scan
lo        Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth0      Interface doesn't support scanning.
wmaster0  Interface doesn't support scanning.
wlan0     Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down
pan0      Interface doesn't support scanning.

and then the next one:

[root@localhost karthik]# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.
eth0      no wireless extensions.
wmaster0  no wireless extensions.
wlan0     IEEE 802.11bg  ESSID:""
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.412 GHz  Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=0 dBm
          Retry min limit:7   RTS thr: off   Fragment thr=2352 B
          Encryption key: off
 Power Management: off
 Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
 Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
 Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

pan0      no wireless extensions.

I've also given the outputs as they are what i have got from issuing the above command.
All that remains now is to install the necessary drivers. Which is done as follows:

yum install b43-fwcutter NetworkManager NetworkManager-glib NetworkManager-gnome system-config-network

Note: I am logged in as root on the terminal

This is basically all that you need to install before you can make your WLAN Work.

This is my first ever post on this wordpress blog : penguinfoot.wordpress.com blog of mine and i am very much excited. The very reason being that the blog is superb, i have gone through the whole of its structure for around 15 min already and still am not able to convince myself that ive seen enough of the additional information. I have 4 words for you all who created the WordPress and gave me a blog in it : WordPress simply is Awesome. Well now that i am so much excited, this is going to be the place of Karthik : #202 Registered Linux addict. Interesting posts are on their way, Have a little bit of patience. All the visitors, you are going to love this place.
